Let yourself be tempted by this mountain bird recognition course taking place in Savoie, in the Maurienne valley. This training course is aimed at instructors, managers of hiking associations, amateurs or professionals with activities related to the environment and the mountains, curious hikers, company employees (works councils, etc.)...

Objectives:
- Expand your knowledge of mountain birdlife.
- Observe the main mountain species in their specific biotopes and learn to recognize them by sight and song.
- Discover in the field the diversity of their behavior.
Pedagogical tools used:
- Observations in the classroom and practical work in the field with binoculars, telescope, audio equipment, etc.
- Reconnaissance of landscapes and biotopes (room and field).
- Presentation of bird species in their environment: classification, distribution in altitude (thermal gradient) and by biotope, affinities, transhumance and migrations.
- Field observations: altitude transect, lookout, approach in specific environments (cliffs, edges, wetlands).
- Submission of a summary of the courses and a bibliography.
The + of the training:
- The majestic setting of the Arvan valley, in the shadow of the Aiguilles d'Arves.
- A valley with a very rich natural and human heritage.
- A training provided by an ornithologist, a recognized specialist in his field.
This course is offered by the training center CIMMES, declared to the Rhône-Alpes Auvergne region under number 82 73 01239 73. It is a trademark of the Bureau Montagne des Arves.

Program
D1: Ornithology.
- Meeting at Saint-jean-d'Arves, presentation of the trainees and the weekend.
- Observation and classification of the main species in their biotope.
- Alternation between the room and the different biotopes encountered in the mountains.
D2: Hiking and observation.
- Today we go hiking with observation stops in each biotope.
- We look for the associated species and learn about counting and data analysis methods.
Supervision:
- Daniel CARDE, ornithologist and member of the LPO (League for Birds Protection).
- Jean-Marc HERMES, mountain leader.
The price includes
- Supervison by the mountain leader and the ornithologist.

- Transport to and from Saint-Jean-d'Arves, about one hour drive from Chambéry or Albertville.
