Description

Come and join me in Haute-Savoie in the Chamonix valley for this superb snowshoeing loop facing the Mont Blanc.

Our itinerary takes place under the cliffs of the Fiz massif and faces the Mont-Blanc massif. In the middle of a beautiful snowy setting, it will offer you some exceptional views of the Mont Blanc.

If there is not enough snow, we will make a longer hiking tour and also spend a very nice day as well.

Program

Departure and appointment is at the Plaine-Joux resort above Passy, at the entrance of the Chamonix valley.

From the car park we follow a forest road in the direction of the Lac Vert. The lake is totally frozen and surrounded by a pine forest covered by a thick white coat. This is a place of total tranquility!

We then go up towards the Chatelet d'Ayères refuge where we continue in the direction of the Mollays. The lunch break is well deserved at the Mollays chalets. The view is clear on the surrounding massifs and on the Mont Blanc. Stuck between the Pormenaz ridge and the Rochers des Fiz, the place is magnificent and not very crowded.

After the picnic we continue in the direction of Barmus. The descent and the return to the parking lot is done along the slopes, staying in the snowshoe area.

  • The duration of the route is about 3 to 4 hours, and it can vary depending on the quantity and quality of the snow.
