Description

I offer a one-day ANENA (Agence Nationale pour l'Étude de la Neige et des Avalanches) training course in the Maurienne valley in Savoie.

At the end of this course, you'll be able to :

  • manage a simple multi-clearance avalanche situation (level 1),
  • organize an avalanche rescue with your group (level 2).

During the day, you will acquire the knowledge and skills to :

  • carry and assemble your equipment efficiently,
  • organize the group's avalanche beacons test,
  • use the basic functions of your avalanche beacon,
  • deal with interference problems that disrupt and slow down the search,
  • search for and locate one or more buried victims using your avalanche beacon,
  • free a buried person using a specific technique,
  • implement group procedures,
  • alert rescue professionals,
  • determine the strategy to adopt in a given situation,
  • conduct the rescue operation,
  • conduct a search in a multiple burial situation,
  • welcome professional rescuers.

Throughout the winter, I also offer some great outings: snowshoe and fondue evenings in Albiez, trapper hikes in the Maurienne forests and snowshoe hikes at the foot of the Aiguilles d'Arves.

Program

  • 9am: Meet on the Place Opinel in Albiez-Montrond (73300), about an hour's drive from Chambéry or Albertville.
Short drive to the training site (2km).
The training then proceeds on the principle of practical application immediately after the theoretical input, enabling step-by-step learning. Numerous information reviews are held throughout the day.
  • 12pm: Picnic break at the training site.
  • Bring warm shoes and clothes + windbreaker + warm clothing as there is no shelter.
  • 1pm: Training resumes.
  • 4.30pm: End of training.

Depending on the day's weather, the timetable may be slightly changed with your consent, but the training content will be carried out in full.

The price includes

  • Supervision by an ANENA-accredited mountain leader.
  • A hot drink on arrival.
  • The ANENA training materials will be sent to you a few days before the course in pdf format.

The price does not include

  • Transport to and from the meeting point in Albiez-Montrond.
  • Hiking clothes, to keep you warm while staying still during the theoretical briefings, then to move comfortably in the snow and keep your feet warm and dry (some of the terrain is groomed).
  • Your equipment: avalanche beacon, probe and shovel (ask me if you don't have any, or if you'd like advice on buying some).
  • Your ski poles or trekking poles, which we need for the exercises.
  • Your picnic lunch and drinks and snacks for the day.
  • Anything not mentioned in "The price includes".
