Infos & BookingDescription
Canyoning is a fun sport that involves descending a mountain stream using mountaineering techniques such as abseiling.
In canyoning, the terrain is rugged and wet, so progress is demanding: it's an activity that requires agility and athleticism, but the fun and thrills are guaranteed!
Wearing your neoprene wetsuit, which keeps you warm in the cold mountain torrents, you will descend the river in your harness, alternating between jumping, sliding down natural slides and abseiling!
Your guide will be there to make this experience unique. However, you will need to be comfortable with heights for abseiling (your guide will ensure a roped descent of 10 to 15 meters).
The shores of Lake Annecy and the Aravis and Bauges massifs offer four renowned canyon descents perfectly suited to discovering canyoning, at Angon, Montmin, Pont du Diable or Chinaillon. Depending on the conditions and the weather, I'll choose the most suitable itinerary to have fun and reduce the risks inherent in the activity.
Here are the characteristics of these different canyons I propose you:
- Angon canyon: located above Annecy lake and the hamlet of Angon, this beautiful route is perfect for discovering canyoning. After getting kitted out and walking around for a few minutes, you get to the heart of the matter with an amusing "letterbox", before continuing into the gorges with a series of jumps, slides down natural toboggans, abseils down waterfalls and walking sections. The course winds through a lush forest and will delight nature lovers and thrill-seekers alike.
- Montmin canyon: between Faverges and Doussard, this fun canyoning course is one of the must-sees in the Annecy region. You will follow the waters of the Nant de Montmin, which flows down from the Tournette and has carved beautiful gorges in the limestone rock over millions of years. After a short approach walk through the forest, you will enjoy an aquatic descent, dotted with a dozen jumps up to 7 meters high (never mandatory), numerous slides including an ejector, and abseils no higher than 10 meters.
- Pont du Diable canyon: this magnificent itinerary in the heart of the Bauges massif features a spectacular gorge. You will encounter jumps, slides, abseils and whitewater sections. The atmosphere is often unbelievable in this narrow 2 to 3 meter wide gorge, dominated by cliffs over 50 meters high. And don't forget the crystal-clear yet cool water.
- Chinaillon canyon: located in the heart of the Aravis massif, between Le Grand-Bornand and Le Chinaillon, this course is set in a very mountainous environment. Recently equipped and a little sportier, it features a 35-meter abseil down a beautiful waterfall. It's sure to leave you with unforgettable memories!
