Infos & BookingDescription
I suggest we explore together the beautiful via ferrata of the Agnielles Gorges, located in the Buëch valley, a 40-minute drive west of Gap.
Well hidden, this valley stretches for over 10 kilometers along a forest track that goes through wild terrain (it is a prime spot for observing deer rut in the fall). The gorges wind along a small river with crystal-clear waters, surrounded by lush vegetation, a mixture of pines, firs, boxwoods, and lavender.
The via ferrata runs along part of the gorges on the side of the cliff via a long traverse on a natural ledge, sometimes gentle, sometimes vertiginous, but always easy.
After climbing a first small wall, the route follows a large and vertiginous ledge that passes through two caves. It is then possible to leave the route and descend (but that would be a shame), or to continue on the second, slightly more difficult part. In this case, you will climb the swallows' ledge, which is also vertiginous, and cross a vertical wall before a final traverse in the middle of the cliff. The final section is either a 30-meter rappel or a climb to the cliff trail and a lookout point.
This via ferrata is perfect for families with children (aged 6 and over) as there are several options with escape routes so that everyone can enjoy themselves.
The departure is guaranteed with a minimum of 5 people registered.
If you are looking for other vertical challenges in the region, why not try the Rouanne via ferrata near Ancelle in the Champsaur Valley or climb Mont Aiguille in the Vercors Massif? You can also opt for aquatic adventures and descend the Rabou Canyon near Gap or the Rouannette Canyon in Ancelle.
