Gorges de la Durance via ferrata (Hautes-Alpes)

Description

I invite you to join me on a trip along the via ferrata in the Durance gorges, a spectacular route that winds its way above the river, just a stone's throw from the village of L'Argentière-la-Bessée in the Hautes-Alpes.

This route is the perfect opportunity to discover the basics of via ferrata with family or friends. Throughout the route, I will be at your side, available to advise and assist you on the various passages. The length can be adjusted to suit each person's abilities, as this via ferrata offers four routes of increasing difficulty:

• The green route, ideal for beginners (45€/person).
• The red route, ideal for thrill seekers, offers some athletic passages (55€/person).
• The black route, reserved for experienced athletes, is a long and athletic route with a vertiginous finish (65€/person).

After getting kitted out with the right gear, we will take a short walk to the start of the via ferrata, where I will give you a briefing on techniques and safety. Then it's time to set off on our adventure, starting on the left bank of the Durance, which we will follow as we make our way up the river. Along the way, several suspension bridges will take us back and forth between the two banks, offering varied views of the gorges. Depending on the route chosen, the various ascents will gradually take us higher, with more vertical passages for those who want more thrills. The return trip is a short 15-minute walk.

This via ferrata takes place in an exceptional environment, suspended above the Durance torrent. You will follow a fun route with increasing difficulty, in a wild setting dominated by the Briançonnais and the Écrins massif mountains.

Program

• Meet at the via ferrata parking lot in L'Argentière-la-Bessée, before the birdge on Durance river.
• We will get kitted out with the equipment together on the parking lot.
• 5-minute walk to the start of the via.
• Briefing.
• Approximately 1 to 3 hours climbing the via ferrata.
• Return to the parking lot via a short walk of around 15 minutes.

The price includes

• Supervision by the climbing instructor.
• Loan of the equipment needed for the activity: harness, helmet, via ferrata lanyard with energy absorber.

The price does not include

• Return transport to the village of L'Argentière-la-Bessée, 20 minutes drive from Briançon and one hour 15 minutes froms Gap.
• Snacks.
• Drinks.
• Anything not mentioned in "The price includes".
