Cliff climbing course in Céüse (Hautes-Alpes)

Description

I invite you to join me for a three-day climbing course in Céüse (Hautes-Alpes, near Gap) on one of the most beautiful cliffs in France, famous for its Biographie sector (and its difficult routes Bibliographie 9b+ and Biographie 9a+). But the cliff also offers many accessible sectors with routes in the sixth and seventh grades, generally on exceptional rock.

The course aims to help you progress on the cliff -both technically and mentally- and to share the experience with other climbers (from 6b to 7b), while enjoying the remarkable setting of Céüse.

Course objectives:

• Manage your fear of falling.
• Control your emotions while climbing.
• Improve your technique.
• Overcome mental barriers.
• Receive training advice.

Prerequisites:

• Enjoy walking (the cliff is reached via a 45-minute approach walk with a 500-meter elevation gain).
• Be self-sufficient in terms of safety (if this is not the case, please contact me).
• Course aimed at climbers who can lead climb 6b and above on cliffs.
• Be aged 18 or over.

Program

D1: Personalized assessment and climbing on the west face of Céüse mountain.

• Morning: Meet at 9am in the village of Sigoyer for an initial group discussion.
  We will then head to the P3 parking lot, the starting point for accessing the west face of Céüse mountain and iconic areas such as the Grande Face and Nitshapa. These sites offer magnificent climbing routes, well bolted and perfedct for a first discovery of the area.
• Objectives for the day: We will start with a personalized assessment of each climber's strengths and areas for improvement. The focus will then be on managing the fear of falling and pushing your limits.
• End of the day: A group debriefing will allow us to review the areas that need to be worked on more specifically over the next two days.

D2: Climbing and individual work.

• Morning: Meet at 10am. directly at the parking lot.
  Today we will change areas and head to Demi-Lune / Pont sur l’Infini to explore another iconic part of the cliff.
• Goals for the day: We will work individually on each person's strengths and areas for improvement, using themed routes that incorporate targeted technical exercises.
• Late afternoon: Head to the Biographie wall! We will take this opportunity to cover the basics of training, or more advanced concepts depending on the group's level. With a little luck, we may even get to watch some experienced climbers in action.
• Evening: We will probably get back to the valley quite late... for a well-deserved drink!

D3: Working on a climbing route.

• Morning: Meet at 10am. directly at the parking lot.
  Objectives for the day: We will spend this last day working on a route that is particularly important to you, with the aim of completing it before the end of the course. This will be an opportunity to address all the key aspects of a climbing project: technique, tactics, physical preparation, and mental management.
• End of the course: Around 6 or 7pm, depending on the motivation and energy of the group.

Note: This program is indicative and may be adapted depending on the weather and the level of the participants.

The price includes

• Supervision by the climbing instructor (the guide is paid for his expertise and not for the systematic achievement of an objective).
• Loan of equipment necessary for the practive of the activity (ropes, belay system, technical equipment, helmet, etc).

The price does not include

• Return transport to the meeting point in Sigoyer, 20 minutes drive from Gap (carpooling available in my 8-seater minibus from Annecy).
• Climbing shoes.
• Accommodation.
• Catering.
• Drinks.
• Anything not mentioned in "The price includes".

Accommodation

• At your convenience (camping, Airbnb, etc.). We can, of course, stay together.
• The instructor's expenses are to be covered by the participants.
