Infos & BookingDescription
Come and join me on this 3-day workshop during which we will be looking at how to navigate and regulate our fear of falling in order to feel more confident, knowledgeable and at ease in our climbing.
Climbers often talk about "fear of falling". Fear itself has its place. The purpose of fear is to protect us from danger. Climbing is a sport that entails a certain risk. The possibility of falling is part of the game. However, it is important to know when it is OK to fall and when it is not and how to integrate falling into your climbing so that it is safe. Many climbers find themselves caught between "wanting to send the route" and "not wanting to fall". This creates an inner conflict resulting in feeling blocked and not climbing at your full potential. A bit like climbing with a pulled hand break.
This 3-day workshop investigates how you can take off this break and how to find increased flow and freedom in your climbing.
During my courses I prefer to bring attention to the tools that allow us to approach climbing with increased confidence, knowledge and ease.
We will be looking at how to climb in harmony with our nervous system so that our fears become more intelligible. Directing our attention towards self regulation throughout a climb means unjustified fear does not emerge and risks can be navigated with calm presence. I will guide you towards undoing your fear of falling through increased self awareness and the application of practical tools.
We will be looking at the important relationship between climber and belayer and how to identify and manage risk.
You will be exploring how falling can become an integrated part of your practice leading to increased freedom, security and connection.
The course will take place close to the town of Millau in Averyon, in the Gorges du Tarn, Jonte and/or Dourbie. The exact choice of crag will depend on number and experience of participants as well as weather and will be communicated a few days ahead of the course.
The price is 100€ per person per day so 300€ per person for the 3-day course. A 15% discount per person applies if you sign up as a pair or a group.
In the event of bad weather the course will be moved to a nearby climbing wall in Millau.
In case the proposed dates do not suit you please feel free to contact me to inquire about the possibility for alternative dates.
I also offer other courses to transition from indoor to outdoor climbing, as well as training in the Alexander Technique for climbing in the Tarn and Jonte gorges.
