Pont d'Arc via corda (Ardèche)

Description

I suggest you come and spend with me a half-day full of emotions on the via corda of Pont d'Arc in Ardèche department.

During this adventure which combines vertical hiking and vertiginous sections, you will have a unique cliff experience and you will discover spectacular landscapes above the Ardèche Gorges. In fact, you will progress along the wall, overlooking the river and following passages on ledges and easy climbing sections. The course has a few surprises in store for you to fill up on sensations: a long zip line, a crossing under a sumptuous arch and finally a large 40-meter spider-wire abseil which will drop you at water level.

In this activity, the progression method is similar to that of via ferrata: each participant has a system of lanyards attached to their harness and which allows them to secure themselves on a rope (rather than on a cable as in via ferrata). Bars are rare here: in via corda we prefer natural holds in the rock to climb.

This course located next to the village of Vallon-Pont-d'Arc is ideal for a first approach to verticality, with several escape routes allowing the experience to be adapted to each person's level.

This vertiginous outing is open to anyone in good physical condition (no previous experience is required) and with no medical contraindications to climbing. You must be at least 10 years old, over 1m35 tall and weigh less than 120 kg.

Program

• Meet in the morning at 9am or in the afternoon 1.30pm at the Moulin des Gorges parking lot in Vallon-Pont-d'Arc.
  Allow 5 minutes' drive from Vallon-Pont-d'Arc, 15 minutes from Ruoms or Barjac, 30 minutes from Saint-Martin-d'Ardèche or Aubenas, 1 hour from Avignon or Bagnols-sur-Cèze.
• 15-minute walk to the start of the via corda.
• Approximately 2 hours and a half of activity.
• 10-minute return walk to the parking lot.
• A total of around 3 hours' activity.

The price includes

• Supervision by the instructor.
• All the equipment you need for the activity: helmet, harness, double lanyard, belay device, backpack, rope, etc.
• Civil and individual liability insurance.
• A photo report of your outing.
• Adult price: 50€.
  Price for children aged 10 to 12: 45€.

The price does not include

• Return transport to the meeting place near the village of Vallon-Pont-d'Arc.
• Sportswear (swimming costume and towel in summer).
• Sports shoes.
• At least 1.5 liters of water per person (plastic bottle).
• Snacks (cereal bar).
• A lanyard if you wear glasses.
• An elastic band to tie up long hair.
• A change of clothes after the activity.
• Anything not mentioned in "The price includes".
