Description

Located on the western slope of Mont Salève, the Jacques Revaclier via ferrata is a hidden gem of verticality just a 20-minute drive from Geneva and 30 minutes from Annecy. Although its elevation gain is modest, this via ferrata offers the feel of a "big wall" thanks to its elevated position overlooking the Geneva basin.

After an approach hike through the undergrowth, the route begins with a wooded traverse before gaining altitude and quickly intensifying, offering thrilling sections, including a short monkey bridge. After crossing a bridge made of wooden logs, the via ferrata continues along a vertical and vertiginous rock slab, ending with a short overhang. Then, it's time to enjoy the incredible panorama of the Chartreuse de Pomier below and Lake Geneva in the distance.

This Revaclier via ferrata is the perfect route for a thrilling introduction or a quick outing at the end of the day. The white limestone of Mont Salève and the plunging view of the Geneva water jet and the Jura massif make it a unique site in the department of Haute-Savoie.

Program

• Meet at the Convers parking area (Présilly) near the Chartreuse de Pomier.
  Allow 30 minutes by car from Annecy and 20 minutes from Geneva.
• 20-30 minute approach hike on the Convers trail under a magnificent forest canopy.
• Technical briefing: learning how to use the equipment, safety instructions, and rock reading.
• Via ferrata (1 to 1.5 hours):
  • horizontal traverse on cable ledges,
  • crossing the rope bridge,
  • ascent of the large vertical slab (the most impressive section).
• Exit onto the plateau to admire the panoramic view.
• 25-minute return hike: descent via a forest hiking trail back to the starting point.
