Training in traditional climbing (Savoie region)

Description

I suggest you come and discover climbing in its purest and wildest form: traditional climbing. Here, we forget about the bolts and seals in place and we will learn to use cracks, holes and natural reliefs to protect ourselves.

This day taking place on the cliffs of the Savoie region is an immersion in the art of installing removable protections (jammers, friends, cams). Whether you are a sport cliff climber curious to discover this ethic or whether you are aiming for large, unequipped mountain walls, I will support you in this exciting learning process.

Depending on your experience, we will practice either on one-pitch routes to increase the handlings on the ground and at low height, or on a multi-pitch route to live the adventure from A to Z. You will experience a day rich in lessons, during which you will learn to read the rock differently.

To address other facets of the activity, I also offer:

• a climbing day in Savoie Mont Blanc,
• a discovery of multi-pitch climbing in Savoie or Haute-Savoie
• and multi-pitch climbing in Savoie region.

Program

• Morning meeting and welcome.
• Presentation of the "arsenal" of the traditional climber (the rack of cams).
• Equipment workshop: understand the mechanical operation of the different jammers (mechanical vs. passive) and know how to choose the right location.
• Practical workshops on the ground:
  • Installation and strength test of protections.
  • Making anchors on removable points (triangulation).
  • Management of the rope and security of the second.
• Real situation:
  • Ascent of routes in traditional style (leading or safety top rope depending on your comfort).
  • For experienced practitioners: possibility of going towards a multi-pitchroute using trad climbing.
• Technical assessment: analysis of the protection installed and advice for your future independent outings.

The price includes

• Expert supervision by the climbing instructor.
• Loan of all technical equipment specific to the adventure playground:
• complete set of Camalots (cams) and nuts,
• slings, rappelling ropes and relay equipment.
• Individual safety equipment (harness, helmet, belay system).
• The instructor's Professional Civil Liability insurance.

The price does not include

• Return transport to the meeting point.
• Your personal equipment: climbing shoes, backpack (20 to 25 liters), technical clothing suitable for the weather.
• Picnic and drinks (bring 1.5 to 2 liters of water).
• Individual accident insurance (highly recommended for mountain activities).
