Taurinya canyon (Canigou, Eastern Pyrenees)

Description

I propose you to join me in the Canigou massif, the emblematic mountain of the Catalan region located in the heart of the Eastern Pyrenees, to go through the magnificent canyon of the gorges of Taurinya, a wild and secluded canyon located in the mountains.

It is an intense and sustained adventure that awaits you during this day. This course is for a sporting public, in good physical condition and having already practiced the canyoning activity.

Carved out over thousands of years by the Llitera river, this canyon is long and original. It combines aquatic and playful aspects (swimming, jumps, slides, etc.) with technical aspects (abseils, handrails, etc.), all in exceptional landscapes.

After the approach walk, this beautiful and long descent is a succession of long slides in natural toboggans and abseiling. The first part allows you to jump from 4 to 8 meters (never mandatory), slides from 6 to 10 meters long, but also to walk and swim. After a well-deserved picnic break in this incredible environment, the canyon descent continues with other jumps and slides, as well as abseiling down waterfalls, including one of 45 meters high!

This canyon is practicable from June to September, propose me your dates!

For more comfort and conviviality, the outing is done in small groups of 8 persons maximum.

If you feel like other water adventures, I also propose other canyoning routes in the Eastern Pyrenees:

• some canyoning in the Galamus canyon,
• the descent of Molitg canyon,
• the Gourg des Anelles canyon above Céret,
• some canyoning in the Llech gorges,
• and the Cady canyon at the foot of the Canigou.

Program

• Meeting point in the village of Taurinya, about 10 minutes drive from Prades and 45 minutes from Perpignan.
• Equipment distribution and briefing.
• One and a half hour of approach walking to reach the start of the canyon.
• Approximately 5 hours of canyoning descent.
• 50 minutes walk back to the parking lot.

• Supervision by the canyoning instructor.
• The technical equipment necessary for the practice of the activity (neoprene suit, helmet, harness, belay device, carabiners, lanyards, ropes, etc.).
