I invite you to immerse yourself in the heart of the unspoiled Chioula estate in the Ariège department and let yourself be carried away by a real Far North adventure! 🏔️
You will strap on your snowshoes and blaze your own trail through the fresh snow to an unusual lodging, lost in the middle of the mountains. Imagine yourself snuggled up in a cozy cabin, surrounded by silence, snow, and stars... A night where the true life of a trapper will take on its full meaning! ❄️🔥
During these two days, you will also explore trapping techniques in snowy environments, learning to live with the mountains as the ancients did. And if you want to prolong the magic, you can treat yourself to an additional adventure with sled dogs for a weekend that is 100% Far North.

- 195€ per adult.
- 120€ per child (under 13 years old and for 2 adults).

Program
D1 (morning): Dog sledding activity recommended.
- It is possible to complement this snowshoeing trip with a dog sledding activity.
- In this case, it is essential to book your first ride before 11.45am on Saturday.

- This service is recommended but not included in the price of the weekend.
D1 (afternoon): Snowshoeing introduction.
- Meet at 1.30pm in front of the Chioula restaurant near Ax-les-Thermes.
- Snowshoe hike to our mountain accommodation.
- Trapper workshop: making a snowshoe or solar orientation.
- Mountain dinner.
- Evening hike with a trapper workshop on reading the stars and night orientation.
- Overnight in an isolated trapper's cabin or refuge.
- Distance: 5km, positive altitude difference: 280 meters.
D2: Immersion day in the mountains.
- Long and beautiful snowshoe hike far from the crowds in pristine snow.
- Trapper workshop: animal track recognition and footprint casting.
- Friendly local picnic.
- Return around 4pm.
- Distance: 10 km, D+: 350m.
The price includes
- Supervision and organization by the mountain leader.
- Civil liability insurance.
- Equipment rental (snowshoes, poles).
- Access to the area.
- Accommodation, evening dinner, and picnic lunch on day 2.
The price does not include
- Return transport to the Chioula pass, about a 2-hour drive from Perpignan or Carcassonne.
- Picnic lunch on D1.
- Dog sledding activity.

Accommodation
- In a private log cabin.
- Sleeps up to 6 people and features a small kitchen and living area.
- Meals and hot showers are available at a nearby mountain refuge (5 minutes' walk away).
- It takes an hour and a half to reach this unusual accommodation in winter.
