Program
The course lasts 2 or 3 days:
D1: Learning the basics of rock climbing.
On the first day, we will go to a cliff suited to your level and together we will (re)discover rock climbing and its specific features.
We will focus on all the techniques involved in rock climbing.
We will assess your knowledge and skills, then I will give you a quick presentation on the basics of cliff climbing and how it differs from indoor climbing. We will quickly move on to practice by climbing a few easy routes in order to understand and absorb the basic rules.
In particular, we will learn how to lead climb, belay the climber, fall (real or simulated), set up belays, and improve climbing techniques and movements.
D2: Working on independence on the cliff.
The second day aims to put you in a situation where you are independent. The goal is to build your confidence and ensure you have fun while staying safe.
We will review all the knowledge and techniques learned the day before to check your understanding and assimilation. You will climb routes at your level, review maneuvers, and perhaps try a more difficult route. Repeated falls are also on the program (fall school), but there are tricks for those who are most afraid.
For the more advanced, it will be possible to learn techniques such as "escape handlings" (when you can't get the rope out) or rappelling.
D3: Consolidating what you have learned.
This day can be an opportunity to consolidate and deepen your understanding of the concepts covered previously.
Although optional, this third day is recommended if you want to be truly independent on the cliff and feel confident enough to go climbing on your own and take people climbing with you (children or friends).
