Description
Between the snow-capped peaks of the Kimsa Cruz Cordillera on the one hand, and the deep canyons dug over the millennia by rivers laden with gold flakes on the other, the village of Yaco offers all the contrasts, both climatic and botanical and geological.
Resolutely off the beaten track, the adventure that I offer you here takes you along forgotten paths towards the mysterious ruins of Conchamarka cut into the rock.
If you want to continue your discovery of the country's trails, you can also follow me for:
- 5 days of hiking in the Royal Cordillera,
- the pre-Inca trail of Yunga Cruz and
- a trek in the Apolobamba cordillera.
Program
Day 1: Drive to Yaco and hike.
Travel to Yaco by public transport.
Discovery walk of agriculture and local gastronomy.
Night in inn.
Day 2: Awkani caves and trek to Conchamarka.
Visit the Awkani caves, abseiling then trek to the village of Conchamarka.
5 hours of walking.
Night in a tent near the village.
Day 3: Conchamarka ruins and trek.
In the early morning, visit the ruins of Conchamarka.
Hike to Huntuta and Challoma (5 hours of walking).
Swimming in thermal waters.
Night at homestay.
Day 4: Return trek to Yaco.
Walk back to Yaco along the Luribay river canyon.
5 hours of walking.
Night in inn.
Day 5: Return to La Paz by public transport.
