Description

I offer you the chance to hike on secret, off-trail paths in the heart of the magnificent Vanoise National Park in Savoie. This 6-day trek will give you the chance to admire blue-green lakes, waterfalls tumbling down cliffs and peaks over 3000 meters high.

You'll plunge into a theater of nature animated by a rich fauna (ibex, chamois, eagles, etc.) and flora, while enjoying walking with a guide and the comfort of refuges in the evening with a good meal.

This tour of the Vanoise is a great loop to experience to the full!

Program

D1: Pralognan - Valette hut.
After meeting up in Pralognan-la-Vanoise at 1pm, we begin the trek with a traverse through the Issertan forest, then a climb towards the Pas de l'Ane, until we reach the Roc du Tambour (2429m). This is our first opportunity to enjoy an incredible panorama on the Vanoise mountains.
We then descend to the Valette hut for the night.
Positive altitude difference: 1200 meters, distance: 4.4km, 4h30 walking time.

D2: Valette hut - Peclet-Polset hut.
On this second day of hiking, get ready to be amazed! Following a beautiful off-trail route at the foot of the Nants glacier, we pass the Col du Vallonnet (2653m) and then cross the Vallonnet alpine pasture and Les Planettes, again off-trail, to reach our overnight refuge, the Peclet-Polset hut.
D+: 1200m, D-: 1300m, distance: 16km, 7h40 walking time.

D3: Peclet-Polset hut - Plan Sec hut.
We follow a section of the previous day's itinerary before climbing up to the wild Col d'Aussois (2914m). If you're feeling brave, you'll be able to climb to the nearby Pointe de l'Observatoire (3016m), with its incredible panorama. We then descend into the valley towards Plan d'Amont and the evening hut, Plan Sec.
D+: 1100m, D-: 1250m, distance: 15km, 7 hours' walk.
Alternative route:
Alternatively, we can head for the Plan des Cairns and then the Col de Chavière before a descent to the refuge de l'Orgère. We then pass the Col du Barbier to begin the descent to Plan d'Aval and the Plan Sec hut.
D+: 1200m, D-: 1350m, distance: 18km, 8 hours walking.

D4: Plan Sec hut - Arpont hut.
Today is a magnificent day on a balcony trail at the foot of the Dent Parrachée! It begins with a view of Aussois and the Aiguille de Solette, the border between France and Italy. We then enter the Vanoise glaciers to reach the Arpont hut, where we stay for the night.
D+: 750m, D-: 750m, distance: 14km, 6 hours walking.

D5: Arpont hut - Col de la Vanoise hut.
For the more courageous, we start this fifth day's walk with an early climb to the magnificent Arpont lakes to admire the sunrise. We then return to the refuge to collect our belongings and set off again under the Vanoise glaciers before reaching the Col de la Vanoise and the hut of the same name.
D+: 750m, D-: 750m, distance: 18km, 8 hours walk.

D6: Col de la Vanoise hut - Pralognan-la-Vanoise.
On this last day of the trek, we head for Lac des Vaches and its famous ford. We climb up to the Chalet de la Cha and Moriond before descending into the Arcelin valley below the Aiguilles de l'Arcelin.
We then continue our descent towards Pralognan to return to our starting point. The loop is complete!
D+: 500m, D-: 1600m, distance: 13km, 5 hours walk.
