Watching chamois in winter above Albiez (Maurienne)

Description

I invite you to come to Savoie, in the heart of the Maurienne valley, to observe chamois from a distance, without disturbing them. This outing above the village of Albiez-Montrond is also an opportunity to see other wild animals such as roe deer, doe, birds of prey and reptiles.

After a very easy approach walk, we look for chamois and other animals that inhabit the mountains all year round. You will be able to observe them with the spyglass. The distance between them and us means we can talk without disturbing them during their search for food, an important detail in their winter survival before the return of the warm weather.

I will also give you information on their biology and their way of life adapted to extreme winter conditions.

Program

• This outing to observe chamois and other wild animals takes place every Friday during the winter season.
• Meet in the Maurienne valley, either at Place de l'Opinel in Albiez-Montrond, or directly at the shuttle bus stop at Col du Mollard (the shuttle bus is free during the winter season).
  About an hour's drive from Chambéry or Albertville.
• 2pm: Departure for the hike from the shuttle bus stop at Col du Mollard, above the village of Albiez-Montrond.
• Short approach walk.
• Animal observation and information, questions and answers on chamois biology and biotope.
• 4pm: End of observation and short return walk.

The price includes

• Supervision by the mountain leader, a Savoie Mont Blanc heritage guide with a passion for observing mountain animals and their behavior all year round.
• Loan of the spyglass.

The price does not include

• Return transport to the meeting point in Albiez-Montrond.
• Transfer to the start of the hike.
• Your personal hiking equipment, snowshoes and poles.
• Snacks.
• All drinks.
• Anything not mentioned in "The price includes".
