Via corda in Ardèche

Looking for an alternative to via ferrata and rock climbing?
Then via corda is the perfect activity for you. It will allow you to explore the ledges and ridges of the most beautiful Ardèche mountain ranges together. Equipped with a rope, we will progress along vertiginous routes where thrills and panoramic views await.

Via corda offers unique freedom of movement. Unlike via ferrata with its iron rungs, here we make greater use of the natural rock:

• Rope handling: Introduction to roping up and moving along a lifeline.
• Thrills: Impressive (but safe!) rappels included in the route.
• Preserved nature: Minimal impact on the rock for total immersion.
• Accessibility: Perfect for families or mixed groups (athletes and those who prefer a more contemplative experience).

Depending on your preferences and the season, I suggest two gems of natural heritage, two exceptional sites offering two unique experiences:

Jardin d'Endieu via corda in Casteljau:

• Located above the Chassezac Gorges, this route is a true wild gem. It's a series of suspended ledges and secret passages in the heart of a white limestone cliff. You will circle the Casteljau peninsula, linking together climbing sections, caves, rope bridges, a zip line, and even a final 40-meter rappel.
• Bonus: A breathtaking view overlooking the meandering river and a Mediterranean "jungle" atmosphere.
• Profile: Fun, beautiful, and accessible.

Ardèche Mountains via corda in Labastide-sur-Bésorgues:

• Above the Besorgues valley and its canyons, this via corda winds its way along the cliffs, just a stone's throw from the Ardèche plateau. Here, the rock changes, the air cools, and the horizon stretches as far as the eye can see. In the heart of the Regional Natural Park, you will explore the Ardèche mountains, which offer a 360° panorama with climbing sections, an optional 50-meter zip line, and even a final 35-meter rappel.
• The bonus: A more "mountain" atmosphere, ideal for escaping the summer heat.
• Profile: Wild, panoramic, and rejuvenating. An adventure accessible to all.

Whether you are with family and children or with friends, the via corda allows you to discover the Ardèche landscapes from a perspective that few people have the chance to see. It's the perfect activity for a first approach to emptiness and verticality without the technical difficulty of pure climbing.

Program

• Meet at 9am or 1.30pm:
  • at the Agachou parking lot near the village of Casteljau for the Jardin d'Endieu via corda.
  • at the parking lot next to the church in Labastide-sur-Bésorgues for the Monts d'Ardèche via corda.
• Important: Please drive slowly through the hamlets and villages you pass through.
• A 5-minute walk to the start of the via.
• Approximately 2 hours to climb the via corda.
• A 5-10 minute walk back to the parking lot.
• The via corda is accessible from April to October.

The price includes

• Supervision by the climbing instructor.
• Loan of recent technical equipment meeting CE standards: helmet, harness, pulley, double via ferrata lanyard with energy absorber.
• Insurance as well as the right of access to the site.
• Normal price: 45€/person.
  Reduced rate for groups already formed from 5 people: 40€/person.

The price does not include

• Round-trip transportation to the meeting place.
• Clothing adapted to the practice of sport and the weather.
• Closed sports shoes.
• Enough to tie long hair.
• A bottle of water (1.5 liters per person).
• Snacks (cereal bars).
• Anything not mentioned in "The price includes".
