Description

I propose you an advanced mountaineering training course to allow you to pass a first step necessary for future beautiful outings in the high mountains.

The aim is to improve your technical skills in rock climbing and mixed ice climbing and then open the doors to top level outings.

In the Mont-Blanc and Monte-Rosa massifs, you will practice even more and at a more difficult level rock climbing with and without crampons and crampon technique on steep slopes and ridges of snow or ice.

The ascent of a more technical 4000 meters high summit, the Castor (4228m), is planned during this course.

Technical content of the course:

  • Rock climbing on multi pitch routes.
  • Rope handling and safety systems on rock.
  • Safety system and progression on mixed routes.
  • Safety system and progression on snow/ice routes and even on ridges.
  • Crevasse and cliff rescue hauling.

If you dream of high accessible summits, I also propose a very nice mountaineering trip to climb some 5000 meters high summits of the Cordillera Blanca in Peru and one week of mountaineering course with the objective to climb the Mont Blanc.

Program

D1: Climbing in the Val Ferret - Courmayeur.
Meet at 8.30 am at the scheduled location.
Day dedicated to multi pitch rock climbing on cliff. The planned routes are slab routes, where the foot technique is fundamental for a correct progression. We will also do abseiling descents and see the belay systems for the evolution on rock.
At the end of the afternoon, organisation of the next day.

D2: Crossing of the Aiguilles Marbrées (3535m).
Departure around 8.30am.
Today you will cross the Aiguilles Marbrées by the ridges, an outing rated "slightly difficult" with climbing sections of 2nd / 3rd degree.
Estimated duration: about 3 to 5 hours, depending on your training.
At the end of the afternoon, organisation of the next day.

D3: Climb to Quintino Sella hut (3585m) in the Monte-Rosa massif.
Departure from Courmayeur around 9am and transfer to Gressoney-La-Trinité in Stafal.
Lift up to Bettaforca from where we will reach the hut in 3 / 3.5 hours following the path. Organisation of the next day.
½ board at the hut.

D4: Climb of Castor (4228m) by its normal route.
Departure from the refuge at around 6am to climb the Felik glacier up to the eponymous pass and then follow the thin snowy ridge to the summit.
