Description

I propose a snowshoeing week in my lodge in the Hautes-Alpes, with all the comforts of home and a spa to relax in.

I invite you to come and discover the region with each day a totally new sector and new landscapes in different massifs.

Indeed, the central geographical situation of Gap allows us to switch from one valley to another according to the weather in order to enjoy the variety of landscapes of the Southern Alps, cradled by a Mediterranean climate. We will go to the French Dolomites (Dévoluy massif) to discover its chorums and its lunar landscapes. The Hautes-Alpes will offer you its lakes, waterfalls, emblematic summits and wild mountains still preserved which are part of the great National Park of the Ecrins.

I will adapt the programme if necessary to suit the desires of each person and in the respect of the group.

The snowshoe hikes take place off the beaten track, far from the hustle and bustle of the resorts. Snowshoeing remains the most suitable way to discover the mountains in winter and to surprise the animals without disturbing them. You may have the opportunity to observe chamois, ibex, ptarmigan or hare...

Note: if you have a group and you wish to manage the meals between you, it is also possible! The price of the self-catering stay is 345€ per person.

If you have less time, I also offer throughout the winter:

Program

D0: Welcome at the lodge.
You will be welcomed at the lodge from 5pm.
Rooms will be allocated and the programme of the stay will be explained. It will then be time for dinner.

D1: Snowshoeing on the border of Dévoluy and Champsaur, on the heights of Gap.
We will get in touch with the first slopes, learn how to read a map, observe the tracks, and play games looking for an avalanche beacon in teams.

D2: Snowshoeing through the pastures overlooking the Serre-Ponçon lake.
This day will be an opportunity to discover shepherds' huts and to cross small streams to get to the Gardette pass. At the top, we will be able to contemplate the Serre-Ponçon lake (the largest water reservoir in Europe).

D3: The Dévoluy massif.
Today, it's the discovery of the Dévoluy massif, known for its lamb, its chorums (huge holes dug by the water) and its gigantic screes which give it a lunar landscape. This particular mountain will not leave you indifferent!

D4: Snowshoeing around Gap.
Walk in the heart of the Gap region, on the crests of the mythical Céüse cliff, known worldwide by climbers. You will have a breathtaking view of Gap and Sisteron, facing the majestic Pic de Bure and its parabolas!

D5: Discovery of the Champsaur massif in the Écrins National Park.
The ascent to the Palastre (south side) will take us between huge blocks of several meters high to find ourselves facing the mountain of Chaillol (3200 meters). On the way back, you can discover local products in a chalet, as well as a cheese factory.

D6: Through the larch forests.
Back in the Champsaur, but this time on a northern slope in a larch forest, the opportunity for you to compare the north and the south, and to taste, I hope, the joys of the soft and light powder.
This will be our last day together, and we will take the opportunity to take in some fresh air and pictures. We will also have our last evening to share some last nice moments together.

D7: End of the stay and departure.
It will be time to leave, with images and memories in our heads.

NB: Depending on the weather, snow conditions or any other reason beyond my control, I may have to modify this programme exceptionally.
My local presence in the heart of the massifs allows me to respond to these constraints as best I can without affecting your stay.
