Snowshoeing & relaxing stay in Gap (Hautes-Alpes)

Description

This stay (4 nights / 3 days of hiking) in the Hautes-Alpes is a cocktail of snowshoeing and relaxation with an outdoor Finnish bath in water at 38° and a sauna barrel. A family welcome is offered at the guide's lodge above Gap: I welcome you in a large farmhouse completely restored, located in a protected area 900 meters above sea level, near the massifs of Écrins (Champsaur) and Dévoluy. You will enjoy a privileged location with 300 days of sunshine per year and a central location.

Dominique, the cooker of the family, will make you discover local meals but also unusual preparations and farmhouse cheeses of our friends Marie-Ange and Axel. A lot of the ingredients come from organic farming. You will taste our home-made products (various soups, dried tomatoes, antipasti, oil mushrooms, beets, onions, beans, vinegar herbs, olive oils, jams and dried fruits of our orchard, twenty digestifs and homemade aperitifs...).

As for me, I have been a mountain leader for 30 years and I know very well the territory of this sweet and unspoilt part of the Hautes-Alpes.

Spirit of the stay:

• Small groups (12 persons maximum): I prefer conviviality.
• Hiking landscape diversity: mountain pastures, pass, forest, rive... I will make you discover my secret and wild places far from the resorts.
• Accessibility by train (we will pick you up at Gap station).
• Difficulties adapted to the group.
• Relaxation with Finnish baths and sauna, both heated with wood fire and fed with spring water.
• Comfort of a *** lodging (rooms of 2 or 3 people), with new bathrooms and italian showers.
• Tasty and hearty family cuisine, inclufing drinks (wine, aperitifs, coffee).
• Heat of a large 65m² vaulted room with a 2 tons wood stove.
• Transport to the departures of the hikes with our minibus.
• Equipment (snowshoes, etc.) to rent.

If you have less time, I also propose a weekend of snowshoeing and relaxation in Gap. It is also possible to opt for the summer version with this hiking and relaxing stay, still in Gap.

And if you're celebrating a special event such as a bachelor/bachelorette party, birthday, etc., I recommend this festive weekend in the Southern Alps mountains.

Program

• Arrival on Monday evening for dinner, departure on Friday morning after breakfast.
• Possible stay from the end of January to mid-March.
• For a group already constituted, choose your departure dates.
• Departure for the snowshoe hikes at 9am every morning, back yo the lodge between 4 and 5pm.

The price includes

• Supervision by the mountain leader.
• Accomodation in ***lodge.
• Meals including drinks (wine, coffee, tea, etc).
• Everything, except equipment rental (snowshoes, hiking poles).
• Group discount up to -8% depending on the number.
• Discount (excluding equipment and transportation) for early registration:
  • -5% more than 3 months before arrival.
  • -3% more than 2 months before arrival.

The price does not include

• Return transport to Gap.
• Return transfer from the train station to the lodge.
• Participants are asked to take their own cars to the starting point of the hikes.
  Otherwise, a contribution of 24€ per person will be requested for the rental of a 9-seater vehicle.
• Equipment rental: snowshoes, hiking poles, avalanche beacon: 48€ or 30€ only for safety equipment.
• Tourist tax (1.65€ / night / adult).
• Cancellation and repatriation insurance provided by Europ Assistance (5% of the price of the stay).
• Anything not mentioned in "The price includes".

• *** Lodge: 5 bedrooms, 12 places, 150m² with 3 bathrooms with italian shower, spacious large vaulted room (65m² old tiled oven, unique in the Hautes-Alpes).
• Located 10 minutes from Gap in the hills.
