Description
Located in the heart of the Vercors massif, between the village of Saint-Julien-en-Vercors and Saint-Martin-en-Vercors, the "Vierge du Vercors" via corda offers a magnificent vertical, vertiginous and playful itinerary winding around the impressive Vierge cliff. This via corda which is the longest in the Vercors , gives spectacular views of the Grand Veymont, highest peak of the Vercors at an altitude of 2,341meters above sea level, the Bourne gorges and the whole southern part of the massif.
After an approach walk of around half an hour, it is time to get equiped and climb the 200-metre-high cliff via a succession of steep walls and ledges that we follow to the left. The route even holds a surprise with a slightly overhanging section at the end of the last major crossing. The walls are equipped with bars to facilitate climbing, and the rock is bolted for our safety. Of course, we will all be roped up together all along the 600 meters of the via corda, so you can enjoy nature and the spectacle in complete peace and quiet.
Throughout the outing, you will be immersed in a wild environment, and we might even have the chance to spot a peregrine falcon, a protected species that nests in these cliffs. This route will also thrill adrenaline junkies and climbing enthusiasts looking for a challenge.
This via corda is accessible to teenagers aged 13 and over.

Program
- Meet in the village of Saint-Martin-en-Vercors, about one hour's drive from Valence or Grenoble.
- 30-minute approach walk to the start of the via.
- Via corda route: 2 to 3 hours.
- 30-minute return walk to the parking lot.
- Total duration of activity: approximately 4 hours.

- Supervision by the climbing instructor.
- Loan of equipment required for the activity (harness, helmet, lanyard, rope, etc.).
- First aid kit.

- Return transport to the meeting point in the village of Saint-Martin-en-Vercors.
- Shoes suitable for the activity.
