Rock climbing and discoveru in Escoma
from 158 € / p. from 1 to 10 personsInfos & Booking
The altiplano that surrounds Lake Titicaca, north of La Paz, reserves many small pearls that will delight the most curious travellers. Little known to tourists, this region is nevertheless of an unsuspected cultural richness.
The climbing routes that surround the village of Escoma meander over orange-coloured overhanging rocks with a dull appearance, but finally rather accessible, the rock being solid and rich in beautiful horizontal holds. These routes are ideal for learning techniques of traditionnal climbing.
The program below is also an excellent way to acclimatize to altitude before undertaking a trek or a high altitude ascent in the Royal Andes Cordillera.
D1: Dragon Dormido - Mina Matilde.
We drive 3 hours and climb the steep rocky promontory on Lake Titicaca known as Dragon Dormido. Some rock paintings and remains of ancient burials make the ride even more interesting. You then enjoy the delicious hot springs of the Mina Matilde and return to camp on the sandy beach of Dragon Dormido. Typical Lake Titicaca dinner.
D2: Climbing in Escoma.
A short transfer and you climb all day in Escoma, on the banks of the Rio Suches.
On the program, multi pitch routes up to 150m high.
On the way back, visit of the local carpentry school and the frescoes of the colonial church of Carabuco.
