Vicdessos via ferrata (Val-de-Sos, Ariège)

Description

Are you wondering how to easily climb a small or even a large cliff without climbing? Well, it's thanks to the via ferrata, a playful way to "get high" in complete safety.

Above Val-de-Sos in the Ariège, the via ferrata of Vicdessos offers you a choice of fun itineraries with varying difficulties:

• The south ridge is composed of two sections that can be linked together:
  • The "Fauna and flora" thematic course: you take height on this easy course, perfect for a discovery of the activity in family with children. The views of the valleys and the high peaks are superb, and you will experience your first emotions when crossing the 20-meter footbridge. After about an hour, you have the choice of either taking the escape route that takes you back to the start in 10 minutes or continuing on the second section.
  • The "Landscapes and Geology" thematic route: you continue to climb the ridge quietly for about 2 hours. The panoramas are more and more beautiful until the arrival at 1250 meters of altitude. From there, you reach the start after half an hour of walking on the path.
• The north face for the more adventurous and sporty, quite difficult, lasting from 2.5 to 4 hours and with a "Heritage" theme. The cliff on which the via winds is impressive and the route is vertiginous without being difficult. You cross and climb large slabs, and cross beams, footbridges (45 meters long), Nepalese bridge and cable bridge for a maximum of sensations. The arrival point and the return on foot are the same as for the south ridge.

Program

• Meeting point in Vicdessos, about 30 minutes drive from Foix.
• Departure by car to the start of the via ferrata.
• Distribution of the equipment.
• Briefing.
• 5 minutes of approach walking.
• Training on the "practice" section.
• Departure for one of the two routes: north face or south ridge.
• Return walking, between 5 and 30 minutes depending on the chosen route.

The price includes

• Supervision by the climbing instructor.
• Loan of individual and collective equipment (helmet, harness, via ferrata lanyard with energy absorber, rope, etc.).
• Professional liability insurance for the programmed activities.

The price does not include

• Transport to and from Vicdessos.
