Description
Located in the Bérard valley above the village of Vallorcine in Haute Savoie, the Bérard valley waterfall via ferrata is relatively easy and allows you to discover the activity above the river, from May to October.
The via ferrata of the Bérard valley waterfall is fun, sporty, not too strenuous and takes place in a magnificent environment! The route ascends and traverses from right to left, beginning with a large monkey bridge. There are also several bridges and beams, crossing over the river and a few steep passages (vertical but not overhanging).
The itinerary begins with a torrent crossing, followed by a steep 70-meter section on rock. A few beams and footbridges quickly follow, interspersed with passages on the cliff, before crossing the torrent again several times on monkey bridges until you reach the exit. Along the way, you can enjoy views of the surrounding mountains and the refreshing spray of the waterfall.
The return journey is on foot, along the same hiking trail as the ascent.
If you're looking for more vertical adventures, I suggest two other routes in the valley: the Curalla via ferrata in Passy and the thermal park via ferrata in Saint-Gervais.
You can also treat your teenagers to a climbing and via ferrata course in Chamonix or for yourself, initiate to rock climbing in Chamonix.
Program
- Meet at the Le Buet parking lot in Vallorcine, a 30-minute drive from Chamonix.
The parking lot is also accessible by train from Le Fayet (and the Chamonix valley) at the "Le Buet" stop. - 15-minute walk from the Le Buet parking lot to the start of the via.
- Approximately 1 hour to climb the via ferrata.
- Approximately 15 minutes' walk down to the parking lot.

- Loan of safety equipment necessary for the practice of the activity (harness, helmet, via ferrata lanyard with energy absorber, etc.).
