Jules Carret via ferrata (Bauges, Savoie)

Description

I would like to take you on a tour of the spectacular Jules Carret via ferrata located in the heart of the Bauges massif and in Savoie department. In an exceptional environment, this itinerary is for adventurers who want to enjoy a physical outing for half a day in the heart of nature.

There is no time to get bored on this route! The unusual, physical start in the famous "Grotte à Carret" (Carret's cave) ensures that you are well motivated. The rest allows you to gain a little height and experiencing the thrills and spills of the magnificent course.

After leaving in the cave, you will continue with, among other things, the passage of an arch, a vertiginous crossing on slabs, a rather athletic overhang, the crossing of a rope bridge, beams, bars and a very dizzy and unforgettable footbridge more than 35 meters long, all on an incredible rock! At its exit, the route crosses towards the pendulum of the large roof then offers an overhanging climb during which you have to think about how to best negotiate the use of the foot or hand holds. A final short overhang takes you to the Charvettan rock belvedere, the end of the via ferrata, from where you enjoy an exceptional panorama.

For adventurers who prefer to enjoy the scenery in an equally magical environment, you can choose the neighboring, easier route known as the "P'tchi".

As the cliff faces due south, the Grotte à Carret via ferrata is enjoyable all year round, except of course during the hot summer mid-days.

Program

• Meet at the La Doriaz parking lot, about 15 minutes' drive from Chambéry, 45 minutes from Annecy and 1 hour 20 minutes from Lyon.
  (Possible carpooling from Grenoble or Chambéry)
• Approximately one-hour walk to the start of the via.
• Around 2 hours to complete the via ferrata.
• 30-minute return walk to the parking lot.
• Total duration of activity: around 3 to 4 hours.

The price includes

• Supervision by the climbing instructor.
• Loan of the equipment necessary to the practice of the activity: harness, via ferrata lanyards with energy absborber, helmet.
• First aid kit.
• Possibility of decreasing rates according to the number of participants.

The price does not include

• Return tansport to the Doriaz parking lot.
• Snacks.
• Drinks.
• Shoes adapted to the outing.
