Description
I invite you to join me in the heart of the Hautes-Pyrénées department near the village of Saint-Pé-de-Bigorre for a sporty caving outing: the Hayau-Bouhadère traverse.
This unique and unmissable caving route begins with an entry into the Hayau chasm and concludes a few hours later at a different exit point: the Bouhadère cave. The journey starts with a rappel of around thirty meters to descend into the chasm, followed by a series of shorter rappels that bring us down about a hundred meters to the base of the Hayau shafts. Once we reach the Bouhadère network, we will continue through vast chambers, navigating easy climbs and traversing along secured ledges to reach the cave exit.
Up for the challenge? Come and enjoy an active day featuring big rappels, stunning underground scenery, and a sequence of technical sections, all requiring a good level of physical fitness.
This outing is open to teenagers aged 14 and up.
To continue your underground adventures, I also offer other outings in the region:
- an introduction to caving in the Pâle cave or Bouhadère cave,
- the Moustayous traverse,
- a challenging caving trip in the Gouffre de la Borne 109,
- and an exploration of the Gouffre Tonio.
Program
- Meet at Saint-Pé-de-Bigorre, a 15-minute drive from Lourdes and 40 minutes from Pau.
- Distribution of gear and equipment.
- 30-minute approach walk to the chasm entrance.
- Cave exploration and discovery.
- 20-minute walk back to the parking area.
- Returning the equipment.
- Allow for a total of approximately 6 to 7 hours of activity.
The price includes
- Supervision by the caving instructor.
- Loan of the equipment required for the activity: full-body suit, helmet with light, harness, belay device, knee pads, and gloves.
The price does not include
- Round trip transportation to Saint-Pé-de-Bigorre.
- Sports shoes + spare shoes and socks.
- Sports trousers/shorts.
- Sports T-shirt + sweater/fleece (it is 13°C underground).
- Picnic lunch (as compact as possible).
- A bottle of water.
- SPF 50 sunscreen 😎.
- Anything not mentioned in "The price includes".
