Description
I invite you to join me in the heart of the Hautes-Pyrénées department, near the village of Saint-Pé-de-Bigorre, for an advanced caving outing: the Moustayous traverse.
On this trip, you enter through one hole and emerge from another! After hiking through the magnificent forest of the Pibeste-Aoulhet reserve, you access the cave via a specially fitted entrance. Once underground, you will navigate a series of rappels, ranging from 10 to 25 meters in height, while following a small subterranean stream. You will also experience a real thrill descending a massive 40-meter-deep shaft. Throughout the journey, you will move through stunning scenery, ensuring unforgettable memories of this action-packed day!
This outing is open to teenagers aged 14 and up.
A good physical condition is required.
To continue your underground adventures, I also offer other outings in the region:
- a caving discovery in the Pâle cave,
- an introduction to sport caving in the Bouhadère cave,
- the Hayau-Bouhadère underground traverse,
- some sport caving in the Bouhadère cave,
- advanced caving training in the Gouffre de la Borne 109,
- and a sport exploration of the Gouffre Tonio.
Program
- Meet at Saint-Pé-de-Bigorre, a 15-minute drive from Lourdes and 40 minutes from Pau.
- Distribution of gear and equipment.
- 1-hour approach walk to the cave entrance.
- Rappelling and cave exploration.
- 1-hour walk back to the parking area.
- Returning the equipment.
- Allow for a total of approximately 6 to 7 hours of activity.
The price includes
- Supervision by the caving instructor.
- Loan of the equipment required for the activity: full-body suit, helmet with light, harness, belay device, knee pads, and gloves.
The price does not include
- Round trip transportation to Saint-Pé-de-Bigorre.
- Sports shoes + spare shoes and socks.
- Sports trousers/shorts.
- Sports T-shirt + sweater/fleece (it is 13°C underground).
- Picnic lunch (as compact as possible).
- A bottle of water.
- SPF 50 sunscreen 😎.
- Anything not mentioned in "The price includes".
