Crossing the Vercors on snowshoes and camping
Duration : 4 days

Level : intermediate
from 435 € / p. from 4 to 8 persons
Infos & BookingDescription
I propose you to leave together for the snowshoeing crossing of the Vercors High Plateaux Conservation Area!
This "royal" crossing has three nights in unguarded huts to enjoy early morning sunrise on the Grand Veymond, the highest point of the Vercors at 2341 meters of altitude.
This snowshoe hike is accessible to people who are a little bit sporty and looking for a close experience of nature. People looking for comfort should better abstain: the huts of the Vercors massif are spartan. The physical and technical difficulties are weak but the lack of material comfort of this stay obliges the participants to have a good physical condition in order not to add inconveniences to the adventure..
This crossing of the Vercors is an excellent opportunity for young and old to discover hiking independently and camping in the mountains.
Required equipment: comfortable backpack (60 or 70 liters), warm sleeping bag (rather sarcophagus type), waterproof hiking shoes, waterproof and windproof jacket, polar jacket, rain cape or waterproof pants, comfortable walking pants, light synthetic long underpants (for the night or for the evening, to wear under the pants), under sweater or micro fleece, fast-drying underwear (avoid cotton), pair of warm socks for the night, bonnet, gloves, underwear for the evening, water bottle of 1 liter minimum, knife, headlamp, toilet paper, lighter, sunglasses, sunscreen, cap, mini toiletry bag, your personal medication if you need it (I will of course take a complete first aid kit).
Tip: put all your clothes in a plastic bag inside the backpack.
I will call you back a few days before departure to set the time and place of the start.
Minimum age: 10 years old.
To challenge you, train you, discover the mountains or observe the local fauna, I also offer themed outings such as:
- snowshoe hikes in the Vercors massif to study the snow cover,
- the challenge of an orienteering race in Villard-de-Lans,
- night snowshoeing in the Vercors on the theme of the wolf,
- a weekend observing the deer rut around Villard-de-Lans,
- and a wildlife hike on the Vercors plateau.
