Description

The highest peak in the Alps and Western Europe, Mont Blanc, at 4807 meters, fascinates and attracts all mountaineers and mountain lovers. I propose you to climb it and make your dream come true.

This ascent of Mont Blanc starts at the Nid d'Aigle reached by the Bellevue cable car and the Mont Blanc tramway, before taking a path leading to the Tête Rousse refuge. The ascent of the Aiguille du Goûter, mainly in rock and partially equipped with cables, allows to reach the Goûter refuge. The glacier section that follows starts with a gradual slope without any difficulties until the Vallot shelter at 4372 meters. Then we have to climb the famous "arête des bosses" where the conditions will give us the level of difficulty of the ascent to reach the top of Europe. The descent is made by the same route.

In order to train and acclimatize yourself to the altitude, I advise you to do a outing such as the Pelvoux traverse in the Écrins massif.

Program

D1 : Chamonix - Tête Rousse hut.
We meet at the Bellevue cable car in Les Houches or at the Mont Blanc tramway in Saint-Gervais in the early morning. The tramway will take us to the terminus of the Nid d'Aigle, located at 2380 meters above sea level.
Once we reach the terminus, the hike begins. On a technically easy path, we progress to the Tête Rousse hut (3167m) in about 3 hours.
Duration of the route: about 3 hours.
Positive altitude difference: 800m.
Lodging: at the Tête Rousse hut.

D2: Tête Rousse hut - Mont Blanc summit - Goûter hut.
After a very early start (around 3am), it's time for the final ascent of Mont Blanc! We have about 8 hours of climbing to do. After crossing the Aiguille du Goûter, the Dôme du Goûter and the Bosses ridge, we are at the top of Mont Blanc! After having enjoyed this sublime view, we go back down to the hut. The aperitif is well deserved and the night at the Goûter hut is restorative.
Duration of the route: about 11 hours.
Positive altitude difference: 1630m.
Negative altitude difference: 1000m.
Lodging: at the Goûter hut.

D3: Goûter hut - return to Chamonix.
After breakfast at the Goûter hut, we have two options: either we go back down to the valley by the same route as the day before, or we climb Mont Blanc if the previous day's conditions were unfavourable. End of the course with a drink all together!
