Sautet lake via ferrata (Corps, Isère)

Description

I would like to invite you to explore the Grand Frisson via ferrata, a very special itinerary, located above the water release of the Sautet dam in the heart of Isère department.

Overlooking the Drac river and at the foot of the majestic Grande Tête de l'Obiou, the highest mountain of the nearby Dévoluy massif at 2,789 meters, this exceptional route winds through a magnificent and spectacular 200-meter-deep gorge. Without any real technical difficulties, the Sautet lake via ferrata is nonetheless impressive and very vertiginous from the start to the very end.

The itinerary begins with a long traverse away from the dam, followed by a short descent to the first vertiginous Himalayan footbridge across the gorge. After crossing it, the route continues along the cliffs on the left bank of the Drac river and leads back to the dam. You climb on small ledges, using the rock or bars to help you along. You then reach a new footbridge, followed by a fairly vertiginous passage and an ascent after passing under the road bridge. You then overlook the dam and the blue waters of the Sautet lake before completing the route and returning to the parking lot by crossing the bridge. All along the via ferrata, the atmosphere is very special, making it quite typical, and  for sure you will enjoy and even love it!

This via ferrata is not very difficult, so it's suitable for everyone!

Program

• Meet at the Sautet dam parking lot, about one hour drive from Gap and one hour and a half from Grenoble.
• Equipment of the participants.
• 5-minute walk to the start of the via.
• Approximately 2 hours to climb the via ferrata.
• 2-minute return walk to the parking lot.

The price includes

• Supervision by the climbing instructor.
• Loan of safety equipment adapted to the activity: harness, helmet, via ferrata lanyard with energy absorber, rope, etc.
• Photo gallery.

The price does not include

• Return transport to the Sautet dam parking lot, located a few kilometers from the village of Corps.
• Individual insurance for high-risk sports (daily subscription available here).
• Snacks.
