Coume Vieille via ferrata (Aure valley)

Description

Located in the Aure valley, between Saint-Lary-Soulan and Lannemezan, the Coume Vieille via ferrata allows you to climb a small peak at almost a thousand meters above sea level.

I suggest you go for a day of via ferrata and enjoy a vertiginous journey punctuated by crossing numerous footbridges, monkey bridges and Nepalese bridges.

The course connects two different routes: the Tucaou via ferrata then the Coume Vieille via ferrata, separated by a connection lasting around thirty minutes on a steep mountain path.

After a short approach walk, the first part climbs several rocky ledges linked together by large footbridges and monkey bridges which will give you some small sensations. The route is also decorated with beams and ladders which make it very fun. It allows you to arrive at a first small summit where a picnic break will be an opportunity to enjoy the panorama of the Pyrenean peaks.

The second part is a little more difficult because it has many vertical passages. Without forgetting the many varied devices, including an impressive footbridge more than 30 meters long and a Nepalese bridge of around 25 meters. The sequence of the two courses offers you a sporty day to make the most of the adventure!

Program

• We meet at the parking lot located in the small village of Camous, 5 minutes drive from Arreau, 15 from Saint-Lary-Soulan and 20 from Lannemezan.
• Equipment distribution and briefing.
• 10-minute approach walking to reach the start of the via.
• Approximately 2 hours and a half to climb the Tucaou via ferrata.
• Picnic lunch at the top then 30-minute walking to reach the start of the second via.
• Approximately 2 hours and a half to climb the Coume Vieille via ferrata.
• 45-minute return walking to the parking lot.
• Plan on a full day of activity in total.
• Bring comfortable clothes and sports or mountain shoes, as well as a bottle of water and a snack.

• Supervision by the climbing instructor.
• Loan of equipment necessary for the activity (harness, helmet, via ferrata lanyards with energy absorber, etc.).

The price does not include

• Round-trip transportation to the meeting point in the small village of Camous.
• Sportswear and appropriate footwear (sneakers or hiking boots).
• A small backpack with a water bottle, lunchtime picnic, snacks and sunscreen.
