Hiking on the secret paths of Bavella

Description

I propose you to join me on a hike to the Aiguilles de Bavella, one of Corsica's most mythical mountains.

During this 1-day hike, I will take you off the beaten track to discover the wonders of this renowned site in the south of Corsica island: its famous granite peaks, wild forest and secret valleys. This massif is also home of a very rich flora and fauna.

You will enjoy a well-deserved picnic lunch in an exceptional place, with a breathtaking panorama over the south of Corsica and maybe over Sardinia,  whenever the weather and the visibility are favourable. With a little luck, you might also cross the path of the master of the place: the mouflon, majestic animal and emblem of the Corsican mountain.

In short, everything is in place to ensure you have an unforgettable day and leave you with wonderful memories!

Required equipment:

• Shoes suitable for mountain walking.
• A backpack.
• A water bottle or flask (1.5 liters per person).
• Energy foods (cereal bars, dried fruit, etc.).
• Sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen.
• A waterproof windbreaker or rain poncho.
• Warm clothing such as a sweater or fleece.

Contact me if you are missing any equipment. Hiking poles, windbreakers, and baby carriers are available to borrow.

Make sure you have a full tank of gas (there are no gas stations in the mountains) and cash (there are no ATMs).

Note: I may decide to change the program or cancel the hike if weather is unfavorable.

If this day hike makes you want to discover other beautiful places in the south of Corsica, I also propose outings to the plateau of Coscione (also possible in winter with snowshoes), hiking to the Pozzi, the discovery of Ospedale, as well as the ascent of Monte Renoso, the highest mountain in southern Corsica.

Program

• Meeting at 8.30am directly at the Bavella pass, about one hour drive from Sartène, Porto-Vecchio or Solenzara.
• Departure of the hike on the secret paths of Bavella around 8.30am.
• Picnic lunch on the spot.
• Back to the vehicles around 2.30pm.
• A total of 4 hours and a half of hiking and a positive altitude difference of 300 meters.

The price includes

• Supervision by the mountain leader.
• Coffee and organic canistrelli (Corsican cookies) during the morning break (fruit compote and orange juice for children).

The price does not include

• Return transport to the Bavella pass.
• Return transfer to the start of the hike.
• Optional Corsican picnic: 10€ per person (bread, Corsican charcuterie, ewe's milk cheese with organic fig jam, canistrelli, coffee, chilled rosé wine, etc.).
  All the ingredients for the Corsican picnic are locally produced, and I take pride in offering you top-quality local products, kept in coolers until you are ready to enjoy them.
