Description
Culminating point of Southern Corsica with its 2352 meters above sea level, the Monte Renoso (also named Monte Renosu) is one of the most beautiful belvederes of Corsica. On this day, I invite you to hike its trails and climb its peak.
After an initial section in the scrubland, we will take time to pause on the welcoming shores of Lake Bastani, a glacial lake frozen for around 7 months of the year, before entering the realm of high mountains and eternal snows. You will make your way through a mineral world populated by tiny endemic plants, before finally reaching the summit. From here you can enjoy one of the island's finest 360-degree panoramas, with views of its high peaks: Mote d'Oro, Rotondo, Paglia Orba and, of course, Monte Cinto, Corsica's highest point, as well as Monte Incudine to the south, all with the Mediterranean Sea in the background.
In short, everything is in place to ensure you have an unforgettable day and leave you with wonderful memories!
Required equipment:
- Shoes suitable for mountain walking.
- A backpack.
- A water bottle or flask (1 liter per person, you can refill your water bottle with spring water for the return trip).
- Energy foods (cereal bars, dried fruit, etc.).
- Sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen.
- A waterproof windbreaker or rain poncho.
- Warm clothing such as a sweater or fleece.
Contact me if you are missing any equipment. Hiking poles, windbreakers, and baby carriers are available to borrow.
Make sure you have a full tank of gas (there are no gas stations in the mountains) and cash (there are no ATMs).
Note: I may decide to change the program or cancel the hike if weather is unfavorable.

Program
- Meet at 8am in the village of Ghisonaccia or 8.30am in the ski resort of Ghisoni, one hour drive south of Corte.
- Departure of the hike from Ghisoni at 8.45am.
- Picnic lunch on the spot.
- Return to vehicles around 4pm.
- A total of 5 hours of hiking and a positive altitude difference of 700 meters.
The price includes
- Supervision by the mountain leader.
- Coffee and organic canistrelli (Corsican cookies) during the morning break (fruit compote and orange juice for children).
The price does not include
- Return transport to Ghisonaccia or Ghisoni.
- Return transfer to the start of the hike.
- Optional Corsican picnic: 10€ per person (bread, Corsican charcuterie, ewe's milk cheese with organic fig jam, canistrelli, coffee, chilled rosé wine, etc.).
All the ingredients for the Corsican picnic are locally produced, and I take pride in offering you top-quality local products, kept in coolers until you are ready to enjoy them. - You are welcome to bring your own picnic.
