Description
You may not know it, but Corsican mountains can also be explored in winter!
That's why I propose you easy snowshoe hikes for a day, in order to discover the magnificent plateau of Coscione, in the south of Corsica. This walk is an opportunity to enjoy the wide open spaces and the exceptional landscapes of snowy Corsica.
You will see the sheepfolds and the distant high peaks differently, covered with snow. The atmosphere is therefore necessarily very different from the summer, but even more incredible! Less than an hour's drive from the Mediterranean seaside, the Coscione plateau gives you a different view of Corsica, while you contemplate the shores of the southern part of the island from these magnificent mountains.
Coffee, tea and canistrelli are offered.
Departures are on request and depending on the weather. All levels are possible.
In short, everything is in place to ensure you have an unforgettable day and leave you with wonderful memories!
Required equipment:
- Shoes suitable for mountain walking.
- A backpack.
- A water bottle or flask (1.5 liters per person).
- Energy foods (cereal bars, dried fruit, etc.).
- Sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen.
- A waterproof windbreaker or rain poncho.
- Warm clothing such as a sweater or fleece.
Contact me if you are missing any equipment. Hiking poles, windbreakers, and baby carriers are available to borrow.
Make sure you have a full tank of gas (there are no gas stations in the mountains) and cash (there are no ATMs).
Note: I may decide to change the program or cancel the hike if weather is unfavorable.
Of course, the plateau of Coscione can also be discovered during the summer for a day.
I also offer beautiful day hikes outside the winter season to discover the most beautiful places in southern Corsica:
- a hike along the secret paths of the Aiguilles de Bavella,
- an astonishing discovery of the Ospédale,
- a day discovering the Pozzi
- and an ascent of Monte Renoso, the highest mountain in southern Corsica.
Program
- Meeting point in the village of Solenzara at 8am or in those of Quenza at 9.15am, around one hour drive from Sartène, Porto-Vecchio or Solenzara.
- Return transfer to the start of the hike.
- A total of 4 hours of snowshoeing and a positive altitude difference of 350 meters.
The price includes
- Supervision by the mountain leader.
- Loan of snowshoes and hiking poles if needed.
- Coffee and organic canistrelli (Corsican cookies) during the morning break (fruit compote and orange juice for children).

The price does not include
- Return transport to the departure point.
- Optional Corsican picnic: 10€ per person (bread, Corsican charcuterie, ewe's milk cheese with organic fig jam, canistrelli, coffee, chilled rosé wine, etc.).
All the ingredients for the Corsican picnic are locally produced, and I take pride in offering you top-quality local products, kept in coolers until you are ready to enjoy them. - You are welcome to bring your own picnic.
