Vidourle via ferrata (Saint-Sériès, Hérault)
from 35 € / p. from 2 to 12 personsInfos & Booking
Join me on this atypical via ferrata course which takes place at the edge of the water and which allows to evolve between cliff and aquatic environment without getting wet!
Near the village of Saint-Sériès and above the Vidourle, the river that separates the departments of Gard and Hérault, this via ferrata winds on a limestone rock face and offers many overhanging passages, which implies a good physical condition to comlete the whole route. Nevertheless, you have the choice between several itineraries and it is therefore possible to avoid the most physical passages in order to make it accessible to as many people as possible.
The itinerary starts with a rather physical crossing at water level which leads to the zip line of the most accessible course. This one makes you slide in front of a "baume", a few meters above the water... strong sensations guaranteed! At the end of this one, and as in various points of the course, it is possible to branch off towards the very difficult route. Otherwise the continuation go in ascendancy, to take height while moving away from the river, until a cable bridge which will test your balance. The final part takes you to the plateau at the top of the cliff, to the orientation table from where you can still admire the panorama.
The very difficult route avoids the zip line to go down a bit to the river and then cross a "baume" (a kind of cavity / cave) to a resting point. From there it is possible to join the easy route or to progress upwards via athletic overhangs that will put your arms to good use, then climbing a steep wall leading to a cave. You will have to choose between crossing it or a cable bridge to find the easier route that leads to the orientation table.
After the via ferrata, you will be free to take some well-deserved time on the banks of the Vidourle, perfect for picnics and swimming.
If you want to go on another itinerary just as nice and also above the water, join me on the relatively close via ferrata of the Gardon gorges in Collias.
