Find the mountaineering course that suits you best

Mountaineering is considered by many (and rightly so?) as the king of mountain sports. It is thanks to its own techniques that one can climb the highest and most beautiful peaks, evolve safely on the most beautiful routes and access the magic of the high mountains. Born in 1492 on the impressive cliffs of Mont Aiguille, mountaineering has since enabled man to conquer the highest peaks of the Alps, the Himalayas and many other high mountain massifs.

Mountaineering fascinates as much as it frightens the neophyte. Often described as a dangerous sport, it is associated with the dangers of the high mountains: crevasses, vertiginous abysses, extreme conditions. Venturing into this world without prior training is of course not a good idea, and it is imperative to know the basics in order to evolve safely roped up. The first outings will then be on easy routes and accompanied by a mountain guide or an experienced and competent person. Then, depending on your wishes, abilities and motivation, you can move on to more difficult routes, always accompanied by an experienced person, and easier routes with a climbing companion of your level.

So, before going to the high mountains, it is essential to learn and practice the basics of mountaineering safety. To walk correctly with crampons on snow or ice, to use an ice axe, to stop a fall on a snow slope, to rope up in the right way, to stop the fall in a crevasse of the rope-mate and then to secure the two climbers, to evolve in rocky terrain, to abseil down, to know the useful knots, etc. are all essential points to master before going on your first mountaineering trips.

Before the summer season, which is the best time to practice this activity, the Direct Mountain guides offer you different courses of several days to teach you and make you practice all these basics of mountaineering. It is up to you to choose the one that suits you best, depending on the date, the place or the number of days:
